Typo problem, "normal 1 7/8 inch down to the 6'3 3/4 he is now"
Anonymous said on 13/Jul/08
Hogan was about at max, 6'5 5/8". At that height he could be about 6'8 in the big cowboy boots, and still lose a normal 1 1/8" down to the 6'3 3/4" I think he is now.
miko said on 13/Jul/08
A 6"3 Inoki would result in a near 6"6 Hogan.

I have always pinned Inoki at about 6"2.25 - a fraction shorter than Ali, which would result in a 6"5 Hogan - which he clearly was.

Ola give it a rest. Flair is in his 60's now he has obviously lost some height due to a lifetime of wrestling, and he is still about 5'11/5'11.5 today. In his day Flair was a smidge over 6'0''. A peaked 6'4'' Hogan is just laughable.

The absolute lowest within reality I could take would be 6"4.75, but that is pushing it. Ola, Hogan had Flair by about 5 inches at his peak (remember he was always looking down at Flair, with poor posture) - that would make Hogan 6"5 and Flair 6"0 - that seems fair.

I personally feel he was probably 6"5.5 out of bed, and probably hovered around 6"5 during the day.

Nowadays, 6"3.75 out of bed, around 6"3.25 during the day.

That would equal a more realistic height loss of around 1.5 inches.
miko said on 4/Jul/08
I could take a 6"5 peak Hogan, any less is pure stupidity, and we have some stupid people on here.

Some say Hogan was a 6"3 peak, that would have made:

Andre the Giant - 6"7.5 (He was actually 6"10)
Undertaker 6"5 (Was 6"7.5 at the time)
Ric Flair - 5"9 (Was about 6"0.5)
Sid Eudy - 6"5 (Was over 6"7)
Vince McMahon - 5"11 (Was 6"1.5 peak)

I think Benoit might have had a little extra in his oots in WCW. He looked suspiciously taller there than he did later. Anyway it's more like 2 inches between him and gene.

In my view Okerlund was 5'8 in his prime and later went down to 5'7, thus explaining how he always seemed to be the same amount shorter with Hogan.

If Hogan was willing to let himself get called 6'8 for like 10+ years when he was only about 6'5.50 then his weight must have been way off to. I bet he was like 290 when he was getting all those 302-310 listings.

It would be highly unlikely that any wrestler would be able to wrestle convincingly in much more than 2" boots. Hogan#s boots at his peak would have took him from 6"5.5 to over 6"7 in the ring.

But REMEMBER, other wrestlers wore boots too, so the advantage gained would be smaller. The talk of 3" boots whilst wrestling are absurd, but out of the ring - possible.

Hulk Hogan was 6'5.75 about 315 peak, 1981. 6'4.75 290 midway through, 1992. 6'3.75 275 now. Those are barefoot legit heights, In wrestling they put the big 2.25 inch boots on them and take that height, that's why Hogan got the 6'8 for so long, he was maybe just that in the big boots.

That is interesting Frank. That guy who worked at MSG would have an insider advantage to seeing all these wrestlers up close. Years ago I'm sure many would have doubted the words of the security guy due to Hogan's inflated billed height and popularity, but now as time goes on it is more evident that Hogan is not the giant that people were led to believe.
Frank said on 25/Jun/08

Rarely - if ever, do we see Hogan stand fully straight, he is always hunched over. See him straight, he looks a lot taller. He could still be close to 6"3.5 at full posture. No doubts he was around 6"5 at his peak, probably 6"5.5.
Chief said on 24/Jun/08
I see things are rather hillarious on this page as usual. I agree Viper. 6'5 is a joke and 285 is just as funny. I just wanted to point out that on a recent American Gladiators show that there was a man competing who was stated as 6'2, a former college football player. I think his name was Landen. Anyway, when he stood next to Hulk Hogan for the interview, Hogan appeared to have nothing on him in height. They looked about the same. I think Landen even almost looked taller at various points. When the camera evened out, they looked about the same in height and the younger man's build looked naturally(key word, lol) more impressive than Hogan's as well and with a bigger frame. It was strange seeing this, but it is just further evidence that Hogan is and was always much shorter than people thought and so are many celebrities and wrestlers that Hogan has worked with. It had been noted that some of the gladiators have dwarfed Hogan. Yet another good point. I know that Hogan's custom cowboy boots among other shoes he has worn in public over the years have given him plenty of lift but his wrestling boots may have given a good deal of lift as well. I am not gonna bother with stating an exact estimate for Hogan's height at this time, but I can barely refer to him as "tall" anymore. I'm not sure how much I'll post here or at all, but it's nice seeing you all here again. Peace.

The NBA does list Rodman at 6'6. However they also list Michael Jordan at 6'6 and Scottie Pippen at 6'8. So someone is lyin'

If Rodman is listed by the NBA at 6'6, he'll probably is a legit 6'6 and Jordan and Pippen both were measured in shoes, as Pippen looks to be the same height as Rodman and Jordan is clearly the shortest of the three.
Karl Malone was listed by the NBA at 6'9 and IIRC he was barely taller than Rodman when they both appeared at the Tonight Show.

Correct, I remember him saying that, when he was on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. They were talking about Rodman's wrestling stint in WCW. Jay Leno said that one wrestler made Rodman look like a little baby. That wrestler was of course The Giant (Big Show). Rodman said The Giant was 7'2 and he was about 6'6. I think Rodman is one of the few people who downgrades his own height, as he looks taller to me than 6'6. He had Hogan by about 3 inches and I don't think Hogan was anything below 6'4 at that point.

6'5'' peak Hogan does'nt fall too far out of range considering most people on here(and we all know who WONT) will believe it to be just under 6'6'' or just over 6'5.5'', and its not hard to see given the different pics/vids/angles we've seen over a 30 year period. That being said, anything LESS than 6'5'' peak for Hogan is just ludicrous.

btw welcome back there folks ;)

I idolised hogan as a kid during the 80s, thought he was around 6'8. After looking at all the evidence on this sight and knowing how wrestling stats are prone to exageration, I think the tallest Hogan ever was was 6'5''. Today 6'3.5' sounds about right. If Hogan peaked at 6'5'' I really can't see Andre ever being taller than 6'10''. I met Davey Boy Smith in England in 1991. Lovely guy, surprised at how short he was, certainly no more than 5'10''. My other 'real height' estimates for the wrestling stars of the 80s would be... Superfly - 5'11'' Piper- 6'0'', Mr. Perfect 6'1'', Rick Rude 6'2'', Ted Dibiase 6'2.5" Jake the Snake 6'4", Kamala 6'4'', Big John Studd 6'6.5''

Yup Taker is a good indicator .

Look at their match at the Survivor series and Tuesday in Texas when taker was in his prime .
He had no more than 3 inches on Hogan .
Then in the 2000s he has him by a good 4 inches, and taker lost an inch too ...

Actually, when Hogan fought Taker for the first time, he was no longer in his prime. Hogan's prime was PRE-1990. In 1990, he apparently lost his first 1 1/4" due to his first back surgery. He fought taker the FOLLOWING year. A PEAK Hogan of the 1980's would have been at MOST 2" shorter than Taker.

What is your take on the Hogan/Mean Gene -montage which shows them having pretty much the same height difference through the years? I'd say Hogan was 6'5 in his prime and 6'3.5 today (he is pretty much the same height as Conan O'Brien & David Hasselhoff) and Mean Gene went from 5'8 to 5'7.

Hogan WAS 294 at WMIII and was down to 287 by the time of No Holds Barred. His serious weight loss began in 1992-1993, going down to 255-260, due to the steroid trials, where Hogan got off them completely and hence the noticeable weight loss. As for his heavier weight, he was 320-330 until 1982 (Rocky III) and down to 305-310 by 1985-1986 and he kept getting smaller after that.

He was considerably bigger in the early 1980's. You should see him in Rocky III, or prior. He was a lot bigger at this point and I remember him being billed at 320 in a match he had with Andre in 1980, at this point he was at least 300 pounds but probably closer to 305-310.

It's not hard for me to imagine a 6'6 300lbs+ man to have bigger arms than me. Besides my weights teacher MET Hogan and a bunch of other wrestlers right before Wrestlemania 3. I've asked him about it a million times and he says Hogan was HUGE and his arms were very big and bulky and legit 22-24" around. He was a fairly successful ameture bodybuilder so I value his opinion. Plus he is a huge skeptic of wrestling so that makes it much more valid to me. Also he said Hogan was def over 6'5. He would know because he is just a hair under 6'2.

Dan, what you do or do not belive is not my problem. My point was that I have big arms and Hogan's looked bigger, I could easily see him as having 22inch or mabbe even more. Ola, I was a big Hulkamaniac back in 89-92. And I don't post pics on here, but I can watch a few of my old tapes and I think Hogans arms look masive. I might be wrong but I remember them being bigger than the physically bigger Sid Justice in '91.
And Hogan's arms still look pretty big today, I would suppose that he concentrates on them, but you neevr know. Ron Simmons was not a big gym goer but he was naturally big.

Halb, it's just that I've been involved in bodybuilding for a good 19 years and many people claim to have a 20" bicep and very few do. Some people measure their upper arms on a distorted angle (pressed up against their body), which will give a larger tape measurement. Everyone said Mike Mentzer had 22" arms. He stated that they were 18 5/8", at 5'8" and 225 pounds. Anything over 19" is very large. If you say 20", I'll believe you. As for Hogan's, I have NO doubt that they were minimum 21" COLD and 22-23" pumped. He had very little definition/striations in his upper arms in the 80's, but one thing he did have was MASS. He was ALSO at least 6'5" and over 300 pounds. That alone will give a larger measurement.

The keyword there is ''may''. Oliva was at his prime/peak at the time -- he was billed as having 23'' then, and you've got both him and Jones saying that was junk. Arnold, though, I'll concede, probably was a year or two shy. Shouldn't be any suprise ... the Weiders are two of the most unscrupulous men around.
Big Show said on 14/May/08
Arthur Jones worked together with Oliva in the early 70's, he probably measured his arms in 1971 or 1972. Oliva's physique was according to most bodybuilding experts at his best in 1972 (he should've won the Mr. Olympia title that year).
Schwarzenegger didn't hit his physical peak until 1974, so his arms may have grown a bit after that supposed measurement in 1972. Plus, it's no secret that Sergio Oliva disliked Schwarzenegger and the IFBB after his controversial loss in 1972.
Jason said on 14/May/08
24'' back in the day is a huge inflation, Freddy Blassie is said to have used an altered tape to ''measure'' them in at that.

You can't even go by Lou Ferrigno's billed measurement; Sergio Oliva (who edged even Arnold out) has said his arms were never bigger than 20.5'', and that Weider just exaggerated his and everyone else's measurements.

Arthur Jones measured Oliva's arms in his prime at 20.25'':

Bossman also looked around 2'' shorter than Akeem who surely we all can agree was a full 6'6'', which even you Ola have claimed in the past, 6'4'' max for Bossman.

And I asked my older brother (who is 5'10), how tall he thought Bossman was, and he said aout 6'7. I don't think he was 6'7, but he was huge and I'd pin him at 6'6. If you watch old wrestling clips of Hogan wrestling Bossman, he was always about an inch or so taller than Bossman. So, I'd say that in his prime, the Hulkster was 6'7."

I always thought bossman was 6'4. Maybe I was wrong.

Hogan looks 6-2ish next to this new Nissan Pathfinder which is 6-0 1/2 in height. And Hulk is closer to the camera as well.

yeah nick hogan's height has me baffled too, here he is aged 15 looking close to 7 inches shorter than hogan Click Here here nearly aged 16 he doesn't seem to have grown much at all Click Here

it is very strange when you consider brooke is much taller than the average american female, she would be equivalent i guess of a 6'3 male yet nick seems about average male height.

given the fact he is 18 next month i doubt he will grow that much in the near future

About hogan
Vegas said on 9/May/08
Danimal this is not a game and stop treating it like some competition

you say that stacy is 6ft barefoot how come hogan has nearly 5 inches on her with her in heels, you were quick to dismiss the conan footage because it did not fit into your claims, i bet had hulk appeared on conan in 1988 instead of 2008 you would not dimiss it so quickly

people do not shrink 3 inches by the time they are 48 (in 2002)

where is the 3 inch height loss here Click Here Click Here or here Click Here As JT mentioned hogan never had a full head on gene going right back to the early 1980s, there is tonnes of video evidence that proves this comment correct, charles barkley was taller next to gene than hogan ever was and chuck ain't 6'7.

as for mcmahon you obviously did not watch HKB where both mcmahon and hogan were standing next to each other in the office with hogan towering over mcmahon, HHH has 2 inches on vince in recent photos and one where he looks 5 inches taller, no way hogan is shorter than HHH today

Click Here in the hasselhoff photo i see no 0.75" now i certainly see no 0.75" given the fact that hasselhoff was wearing 2 inch cowboy boots that night Click Here giving him at least a half inch over what hogan was wearing. in simple math terms is does not compute, you say hasselhoff is 6'4, then those cowboy boots give him 2" making him 6'6, you say hogan is a flat 6'3 then his boots that night give him 1.5 inches at best making him 6'4.5, tell me where is the 1.5 inches in that photo????

did flair lose 3 inches too Click Here

Click Here according to that website humans lose approx 1 centimetre each decade after the age of 40 and that includes stuff like compression fractures of vertebra, forgive me for not believing that hogan lost 8 times that

i agree with Hulk fan, hogan looks more than 6'3 with Stacey despite her having a footwear advantage Click Here and more than 6'3 with Mr T as well unless T has dropped below 5'9 as of December 2005 Click Here

hogan has a terrible posture these days but when he stands up fully straight like on conan (flexing his muscles) he is still a very large man Click Here

Of course you do, because you are one of two who refuse to admit that Hogan lost any real height even though he was taller than HBJ by 1" in the 80's and shorter than him by 2" in 2004-2005 and he had McMahon by 4" in 1979-1989, yet was only about 1" taller than him in 2003 and 2004.

Alex, Hogan was taller than a legit 6'5"+ man by the name of Hilbilly Jim. In my books, that put at 6'6".

Hasselholf was taller than Hogan by .5-.75" of an inch in that pic. Sorry Vegas, but you lose again.

Danimal, I totally agree with you when you say that hogan had considerable height loss. I think he was 6'6 peak and 6'4 now. He is shorter than Hasselholf in a few pictures but somebody posted photos of both their footwear and hogan had on much smaller shoes I think they are both 6'4 today but Hogan would have been considerably taller in his prime so he has lost significant height for a 54 year old.

At 6'5 peak Hogan would still result in a 2 inch height loss because the man isn't more than 6'3 today.

He was as tall as 6'4 Conan and would be as tall as Hasselholf if it wasnt for David's large cowboy boots. Hogan is still 6'4 today.

And that's not even a peak Hogan anymore.
Danimal said on 8/May/08
Sorry Big Show, but I have to disagree somewhat with your assessment of his Lister's boots. He did wear the Kane like platform ones on many occassions to the ring and not just for the movie. I remember a tag team cage match, where Lister was falling all over the place because of his boots and Hogan was still barely shorter than him. In that staredown picture you provided, I still see the foot advantage going to Lister by at least 1" and Lister is barely taller than Hogan there (he's leaning forward, while Hogan is standing straight).

Furthermore, Lister has also been listed at 6'6" AND 6'7" in the real world. I personally believe that barefoot, Hogan would have been at least equal to Lister, if not slightly taller than him

Lastly, what frustrates me the most is NOT Ola, because no one can or should take him seriously, but VEGAS, because he knows the rules and knows the game of wrestling, YET, he blatantly posts comparisons of Lister and Hogan HEAD shot, knowing what kind of heel Lister was known to wear in the ring. If this were my site, I would have given Vegas (who's been on here a long time) a SEVERE warning, of which he so rightfully deserved. Stop grasping at straw Vegas. Glad to see I have so many allies on this page. It makes it worth sticking around :).

you want boot comparison of lister and hogan well here it is, notice the knees pads on both men are identical in height as as their nipples (i drew white lines just in case) now if lister was wearing mega-lifts wouldn't his legs be alot longer than hogans

So maybe they're not mega lifts per say but the evidence there clearly suggests Hogan is NOT shorter barefoot than Lister, that we can all surely agree on that. (even Ola did ;)

Tom Lister Jr. wore platform boots in the movie No Holds Barred

But it's quite obvious he isn't wearing them here. His shoes look quite normal with a small heel. I don't think they would give him more than 0.5" footwear advantage on Hogan's boots.

The black guy(sorry I don't know his name) in the Davidson/Hogan pic is only 6'5. He is the same height as Hogan and actually maybe taller because he does not have cowboy boots on like Hogan, only big heeled dress shoes that are 1/2 inch+ less high!!!

According to most people here from the eye level to the top of the head there is about 5 inches ... Hence Hoga being 6'5.5 at least if Greg's head matched his eye level ...

Then can someone explain to me why 6'0.5 Greg barely makes it to the bottom of Hulk's nose ?

Anyway 6'6 for prime Hogan seems accurate to me .
He was 1.5 to max 2 inches smaller then Sid at Wrestlemania 8 .

Davidson was probably 6'8 when he was real young, just out of college, early 60's. By the mid 80's he had gray hair, he was more 6'7.5 or less, bringing a peak Hogan down to 6'5.5 or 6'5.25.

tuga i believe hogan lost 1 inch, 1.5" tops. i am interested in that piper/hogan video simply because Danimal claims hogan lost 1.5 inches in 1990 but that video is from 1992 and hogan has more height there on piper than he had on him in 1985,86 or 87. If hogan is 6'6 there, then Sid Eudy is easily 6'8+ because as you can see from the staredown later in the match he has a good 2.5 inches on hogan despite what alfred hayes is saying thats a screen capture from that match Click Here

JT, I think Volkoff is closer to 6'4". There is a picture of him on HBJ's website and he's only marginally shorter than HBJ

I agree. He was billed at 6'7" in the WWF in the 1980's. Only an inch shorter than Hogan. He is an old man now, but for a peak height I give him not under 6'3" and he very well could have been a full 6'4". Same goes for Sgt. Slaughter.

Funny you should mention these two guys...I met them both just a couple of months ago...Really nice to talk to...Here's a photo of the two of them and me.

Volkoff is 60 years old so he has probaly lost a little height...He still looked to me to be around 6'3"...so he might have been 6'4" when he was younger. I don't think Sarge was ever that tall...he did wear some thick soled boots when he wrestled...He might have been closer to 6'2"

Vegas, how much height do you think hogan lost since his prime?

The movie I posted from Piper is important for his height, there you can see he is a tall man, I believe 6'1 prime, here

Hulk was at the very most 6'6 at his peak, and maybe a hair less,Hogan was only a hair taller than Hillbilly Jim, who I think was max 6'5.25. 6'5 Bill Fralic was at least the same height as HBJ making Fralic a big 6'5, probably 6'5.5. I think if there was a picture of Fralic and Hulk Hogan from back in the mid 80's Hogan and Fralic would be about the same Height, a strong 6'5.5. HBJ even with the frizzed out hair was no taller than Fralic. Give HJB a short haircut like Fralic and I think Fralic would be a snich taller.
