These days Terry Bollea has more to think about than his height. But as a regular on the LAX to Tampa run I've run into the entire family on a couple of occasions. The craggy faced ex-wrestler is very close (no more) to the 6'3.5" listed. His daughter (6') is as tall as their street racing son Nick.

I still think that Hulk Hogan was a legit 6'6" during his prime in the WWF, and his current height now is probably 6'3.5" as i have seen him just a few inches taller than 5'11" Shawn Michaels in their match in Summerslam 2005.
Nice picture by the way JT, and we can both agree that the Ultimate Warrior is 6'1.5" because HHH is a smidge taller than him, when both have a staredown in Wrestlemania 12 in that match Jim Helwig squash the up and coming star known as
Hunter Hearst Helmsley.

Danimal, I think Hogan was a peak 6
Anonymous said on 21/Nov/07
Obviously Hogan was a big 6'5, small 6'6, in his prime. Anything more or less than that is wrong. At 6'5 3/4 barefoot he is big enough to be in the 6'7-6'8 range with his cowboy boots on, and yet small enough to to lose a realistic, and normal, couple of inches down to the 6'3 3/4 he is now in his old age. Otherwise it's ridiculus to think that he was like 6'8 in the late 80's and shrunk down to like 6'3 3/4 by 2000. The only way that you could lose that much height that fast and at such a relativly young age is if you have some sort of big time disease like a cancer that is killing you.

1. "Greg" is standing as straight as he can, while the Hulkster is rolling his shoulders forward and leaning.
2. The line marking "Greg" as 5'10" appears to cut into his skull! I doubt that his nice head of hair is 2" tall. For those of you with hair (sorry, Hulk!), stand in front of a mirror with a ruler and press down on the top of your head. Does anyone lose 2" inches of height??? I know I don't!

Hogan was absolutely huge in his day, he had the perfect build, but I really can't put him at more than about 6'5 7/8 and about 312. At that size he would be about 6'8 in boots and about 320 with all his clothes on. Which is why he could get away with the 6'8 340 listings, as always there are WWF listings and real life listings.
Gamma_2008 said on 5/Nov/07

Even allowing for the slight angle in the photo (you can do that by using the roof line behind them as a guide)Greg only comes up to the bottom of Hogan's nose. That would be about 6 inches on an average person, and Hogan obviously has a very large head. In all seriousness, if Greg is 6'1/2" then Hogan is 6'7" in 1988 on the evidence of the above photo.

Editor Rob

I'm 6'5", and 5'8" comes up to about 1 to 1.5" below my bottom lip standing relaxed, and to just about the bottom of my head standing tallest. Compared with Hogan and mean Gene, I'd say he is a solid 6'4", maybe a tad over, and 6'5" being the highest I would ever likely estimate. He looks very tall in the picture with Greg, 6'6" - 6'6.5", but angles can really distort things by huge amounts such as even 4-5".

Well folks, like almost everything else on here you are basing your estimates on pictures. In many photos Hogan, like Andre are leaning over or bending their knees slightly which if you don't know can easily take 3-4 inches off your height just try it yourself if you don't believe. I base my knowledge on factual evidence, I have stood next to both Hogan and Andre back in 1989 and at 5'8" I only came up to the bottom of Hulk's chest and Andre's belly. Andre also cleared Hogan by almost his entire head which if you remember was enormous and much larger than anyone else's. In Andre's later years he was for the most part unable to stand straight up. Finally, if you really take a look at the WM3 picture of the famous stare down you will notice that Hogan only comes up to Andre's mouth at best and andre's head was alone 18" from chin to top. Sorry guy's, I believe in some cases yes they have exagurrated heights and especially weights but with Andre and Hulk their was never any need to do so. Ron.

Vegas, those are probably the same dress shoes that Hogan wore when he towered over ~ 5'11" Stacey Keibler in heels. Regarding the 1986 video with Mr. T, Hogan's good at making sure he's standing a little closer to the camera to make him look taller and larger. Notice also how Hogan's almost always on the left side of the interviewer (right side of screen). I assume this is because his left biceps is larger than the right.

No way was hogan ever 230, maybe in high school. Even when he was low he was just down to 270+ from 310. That's 40 lbs, that is gonna be real noticable on anyone under 400. And he was about 6'6 in his prime, no more than that to be sure. Some people are able to hold height really well, to witin 1 inch all the way till their like 70. But some, like hogan, really shrink up early on. I think he is only about 6'3.5, 275-280 now.

The samething was said by the wrestler "Undertaker". He said he used to be 6'10" but now he says he's 6'8", because of the injuries and all.

Danimal said on 19/Sep/07
JT, he was never ripped in the 80's. What he had was SIZE and A LOT of it. Bodybuilders only get "ripped" when in competition. It requires lowering one's bodyfat count. This was not Hogan's objective back then.

Scott Hall's arrest sheet from 1998 had him at 6'5" 225.

I read an article in 1993 just before hogans return saying he was down to 235lbs... looking back i could give him that weight legit, he looked as skinny as edge back then, maybe a little more muscular but not much. I also remember Sweet Stan Lane on commentary usually giving far more realistic heights and weights. He said razor ramon was 6'5 and 260lbs when his listed height and weight were 6'7 287lbs
Alex said on 18/Sep/07
Not sure about Hogan ever being 325lbs? He looked 300-305lbs at his peak to me but I could be wrong. But he looks heavier in 93-94 than he does now though.

Shaq was always listed at 315lbs in the NBA I think. He got up to at least 350lbs they said then got down to 325lbs.

On paper he was. He was 285 when he entered the league according to his trainer at the Lakers (in the September 1999 issue of Muscular Development magazine). You don't think they pad the weights a bit sometimes? Mate, give your head a shake. He arrived at the Lakers in mid 1996 at 295. You're not exactly one to talk Mr. ''Bret Hart is 5'10'' 235lbs''... lol

Jason; its hard to compare du Randt and hogan, both have completely different builds, du Randts arms are really small compared to hogans. IMO hogan is bigger now than say back in 1994 when he made a 300lb+ Shaq o neal look skinny.
if Sid was 6'8 legit then Kevin Nash was 6'11

His arms and upper body is looking closer, but I reckon his thighs and hips area would be much smaller from the effects his injuries/surgeries and age would have on his training. 280lbs? Os Du Randt is 6'3'' 275 & Hogan isn't as big as that beast...

I may be the only one who thinks that the picture with greg isn't all that far off. Greg is probably a 5'11 3/4 guy who is standing next to a 6'5 3/4 guy. Hogan's body size is exaserbating to height difference, any legit 6'5 3/4 guy is going to absolutly tower over some 5'11 3/4 regular guy.
nova said on 15/Sep/07
Hogan was 6'5 3/4 barefoot in his prime.
Jonathan said on 15/Sep/07
Dave, it is very possible to someone can lose more than 3 inches in height. I've seen people who have lost more than four inches in height as a result of serious trauma to the legs, back and neck.
Not everyone is the same, but this is not that uncommon for people who have spent 20+ years in a brutal and extremely dangerous sport like wrestling.
Hogan always towered over most people in his prime but it is a fact that he's lost a lot of height over the years as a result of extensive knee injuries (he talks about it in his book), back injuries (a big factor in height). Hogan also has developed poor posture over the years and seldom stands straight, which makes him look shorter than people who used to tower over.
Dave said on 15/Sep/07
That's impossible he lost 3 inches during these years, and there are lots of photos that proof that theory, at the same time he wasn't 6-7 he weared elevator boots like all wrestler do, he was no more than 6-5 (195.5 cm) in his youth, today he looks around 6-3 to me (191 cm)

Back in 1986, I was on the same flight from Vancouver, BC Canada to Tampa with Hulk. I was 6'1" barefooted then (I'm now 63 years old, and have lost about 1/3 inch in height since then), and Hulk was wearing similar athletic shoes as I, and appeared to be 4 to 5 inches taller than me as I stood right next to him in the Customs line. So, back then he was a true 6'5" or 6'6". I didn't talk to him, but he was very gracious and friendly to anyone who did talk to him, especially kids. He made a good impression on me -- seemed like a nice, easy-going guy.

Hogan was 6'8 in his biggest cowboy boots back in the late 70's. That is why they put him at 6'8 back then, Wrestling was still in the stone ages back then and they had to hype the stars like a circus carney to get fannies into the folding chairs. Which means he was probably a hair under 6'6 barefoot. And he probably topped out at about 312 or something, that is why they thought they could just get away with putting him at 340. That was huge back then. I think he has lost about 2 inches from that today.

Hogan was about 6'5 3/4, 310, at his peak in the late 70's early 80's when he had that big head of hair. he lost about an inch later on when he went crome dome, and dropped to about 6'4 3/4, 295. And then when he got old and had all the surgeries he has dropped another inch to 6'3 3/4, 275 now. All in about a 30 yr span from 77'-07'.

Jonathan said on 14/Sep/07
Danimal and nova, I fully agree with you. A prime Hogan barefoot was aprox 6'6" easily.
Alex said on 14/Sep/07
Is Beltzer really 6'1? If so Hogan looked about 6'6 there.
But even if Beltzer is really 6'0ish Hogan still would be at least 6'5.
Anything under 6'5 for Hogan during his peak can't be true.
Danimal said on 14/Sep/07
Nova, you and I both know that, but others will IGNORE that video. Seeing IS believing. He is NOT wearing boots. He is NOT standing on his tip toes. He is practically barefoot next to a 6'1" man and towers him. Hogan was 6'6".

Frank, go over to Clint Eastwood's page. Ask Glenn. Clint lost 4 FULL inches bro. Yup, it does happen. Hogan is not too far behind. Frank, look at the video of him with Richard Beltzer, where Hogan was wearing ballet shoes in 1985 and had 6'1" Richard by a good 5". Frank, they compressed his neck, his back, his knees and and his hips. That is why he CANNOT tower people the way he used to with EASE....
LV said on 13/Sep/07
Nova, those Hogan pictures are excellent! They clearly show him to be taller than HBJ (even if you take 1" away for footwear) and he's as nearly as tall as Akeem (who I think was a legit 6'6") and about equal with Earthquake. More evidence that Hogan was over 6'5" barefoot in his prime and has lost significant height. I'll post a recent pictures of Hogan and Ed Leslie (

Frank, he had 2" on Eddie and wasn't Eddie 5'10" seeing he was much taller than Mike Tyson? Arsenio has stated he was 6'0".
Frank said on 12/Sep/07
I doubt Arsenio is 6ft and if im not mistaken he was about the same height as Eddie Murphy or alittle taller and Murphy is about 5ft 9
Jonathan said on 11/Sep/07
I saw the Hogan/Arsenio interview in Youtube. Yes, Hogan was wearing his cowboy boots but Arsenio was clearly wearing one of those quasi-Air Jordan basketball tennis shoes with huge heels. These were designed this way to give basketball players more height, running and jumping advantage.
Back in the days I remember wearing those kind of basketball shoes and my height would go from 5'10 to 6'0".
So if Arsenio was 5'11" or 6'0", then with those basketball shoes his walking height would've been 6'2" or more. That would make a prime Hogan look 6'8" with cowboy boots.

I think that so many people keep coming back to the Ben Davidson pic because what it does is take 6'8,6'7 and even anything over a flat 6'6 off the table for a peak hogan. If a 6'8-6'7 documented guy who is old is defintivly 2+ inches taller than a peek Hogan(and I think that even supporters of a really tall hogan would have to admit that)then you have to jump through some hoops to even get to the flat 6'6. 6'5 1/2 is far more likely. And I saw the show(I'm sorry to admit) and Davidson was no less than 2 1/4 inches taller MINIMUM.

Hogan was 6'5 3/4 an 305 in his prime. with the boots and the garb that means he probably stood 6'7 3/4 and 315, so he then was able to pull off 6'8 and about 330. That's how he measured himself. Of course he was bigger than Ferigno because lou was only 6'4 and about 275 and since he was'nt a wrestler, didn't have boots on. If Ferigno would have went into wresting right there they would have put him at 6'6+ 300+ in a minute. Hogan is about 6'3 1/2 and 275 now. 6'5 285 with the boots and garb.

In that picture with Hulk/Andre/Trump Hogan was wearing white cowboy boots with a VERY BIG HEEL on them i have him on VHS tape when he had to sign a contract to have the rematch with Andre ...Trump was probably wearing dress shoes with an average heel...I have a couple pairs of cowboy boots but not with a BIG HEEL Hogan had on his

Mean Gene interviews Scott Hall. When he stands straight is also one head above Gene's, but not by a whole lot more than Hogan. And Scott is taller than the Hulk. And btw, Scott is also wearing his wrestling boots.

Whats this whole obsession with Hogan's footwear? Andre wore cowboy boots, and occasionally Trump does too. Unless Andre and Trump were barefoot at the time of the pic (and I seriously doubt so), then substract an inch or two from all of them.
And since we all get shorter as we age, Trump might actually be taller than 6'2 back then.
Hulk Hoga in his prime was easily 6'5" to 6'6". With cowboy boots: 6'7"
Halb said on 30/Aug/07
When HOgan met Rock, they were practically the same. There was not a nr 1 inch diff.
Danimal said on 30/Aug/07
JT, so you do believe that Hogan WAS a legite 6'5" guy?
JT said on 29/Aug/07
This is a better angle of Hogan/Trump/Andre.
Click Here Hogan is wearing his spandex outfit so he likely has his cowboy boots on. He has Trump (at least 6'2") by around four inches. Subtract roughly one inch for the footwear advantage of the cowboy boots and that puts Hogan at around 6'5" as of 1988.
Before anyone starts whining, this is Hogan and ~ 5'8" Mean Gene from around 1985 in comparable tennis shoes (
Click Here) He needs to have Gene by approximately a head size to be 6'6" (like e.g. Earthquake and Giant Haystacks do). Hogan never has in all of the pics that I've seen of the two unless he

Who the hell claimed Hogan was 6'??
LV said on 29/Aug/07
Another thing about that Hogan/Trump/Andre picture is the camera angle. That very low camera angle actually favors Trump. If that picture were taken at a higher level, their height differences would be more significant. And before anyone starts the whole footwear argument, keep in mind Trump would be wearing heeled dress shoes, so even if Hogan and Andre are in boots, they aren't getting much, if any, advantage.
LV said on 29/Aug/07
This is stupid. Now rob is claiming Hogan is 6'0'?! Yes Hogan is much shorter than he once was, but he's still over 6'3". Here is a picture of him with the Rock (
Click Here). Many feel that the Rock is 6'2"-6'3". Take out the Rock's hair and Hogan is close to an inch taller. Jonathan's pictures show that Hogan (whether he was wearing boots or not) is much taller than the 6'2" Donald Trump. There's no way that's just a footwear advantage. Face it, Hogan has lost 1.5"-2".
Jonathan said on 29/Aug/07
Here is another pic with Donald Trump and Andre the Giant. Hogan towers over Trump. Isn't Trump over 6'2- 6'3?? Hogan owns him by about four inches at least.
Click Here Hulk definitely between 6'5" and 6'6" in his prime.

People do shrink with age, especially if they've had a rough life of taking falls and knee replacements. Hogan barely ever stands up stright and walks with a limp. David Hasselhoff looks very very tall. People say that he's 6'4" but I wouldn't be surprised if he was actually taller, because I've seen pics of him where he towers over other tall celebrities.
Jonathan said on 29/Aug/07
We know that Hogan walks around with a bad posture and with bad knees, and a bad back.
Here is a pic of him vs. Ric Flair. Ric is clearly 6'1" and a prime Hogan towers over him by at least 4 to 5 inches.

Hogan can give a 6'2 impression at times I do agree on but more likely he's 6'3 today but barely though.
rob said on 28/Aug/07
The last time the super Bowl was in Tampa, I saw Hulk and he wasn't taller than me with tennis shoes on. 5'11" natural, maybe 6'1" with tennis shoes. Just watch the show and watch him walk through a doorway. Or look at his shoes, sometimes his shoes have extra soles.

Viper i seen that too there was one cop who looked 2 inches taller than Hogan :o)
Chief said on 28/Aug/07
Viper, I see what you mean. Most of the time he does look shorter than 6'3" these days.
Viper said on 28/Aug/07
Id give Hogan a solid 6-2 these days. He doesnt even give me a 6-3 impression in the latest pictures. I was just watching news video of him talking to a few cops after his ons car accident a 3 of the cops were actually taller than him.
mike m said on 27/Aug/07
hogan these days i would give 6'3".
Mike said on 27/Aug/07
Stan the picture should stay b/c it generates viewers and maybe Greg is really 6 feet, however Hogan does TOWER over Greg regardless of Greg;s height, Hogan no way now of days could tower over someone like that, even a 5'10 person, Hulk's gotta be 6'3 ...6'4 in nice footwear

Editor Rob
remember the bottom line is that a little bit of controversy never really hurts ;)
maybe some should remember that over a few of the listings on here :)

hey, the Hasselhoff and Hogan pic is a good one and shows more truth on Hogan's height than many other pics such as some with unknown people. Hasselhoff is widely known to be 6'4" and clearly he has Hogan beaten well, even with Hogan standing closer to the camera. However, I don't think we will be seeing that pic posted at the top of the page ever.

He is shorter this days Rob.Look at this picture.

With each famous wrestler, you have to take away about two or three inches from their billed heights. But Hogan in his prime was a very tall man. We can't take this away. Hogan in his prime barefoot was a solid 6.5+. With the boots I can see why he looked 6'7" in the 80s. And Andre with the boots was perhaps close to 7'2 or '3. And the Rock, who looks about 1 and 1/2 inches shorter than the Hulk (look at their staredowns) is perhaps 6'2, and so on...
canadiankid said on 26/Aug/07
I stood next to Hogan for about 2 minutes. I was working security at a WWE show in Halifax, Nova Scotia. I swear I was looking slightly down on him. I am 6'5 315lbs. and there is no way he is over 6'3". I had shoes with no heels and he was wearing sneakers.
Halb said on 26/Aug/07
I agree Alex.

I can't beleive that this picture is still posted for Hogan. It has no validity at all. with the probably hundreds of pictures of hogan with famous people down throught the years whose height is more less known, why post one where it's almost a slam dunk that the guy is lying about his height because he vanishes forever. And

Editor Rob
it stays because it generates visitors to the site.

I posted this a while ago (Click Here) The guy in the tux is reportedly 6'4" and looks it from other pics. The guy on the right (NFL'er Otis Wilson) is 6'2". Greg's lucky if he's 5'10".]
I like how in the "lined" photo Greg loses at least an inch of his height, while the guy in the tux stays the same. The question now becomes, "Who has the fluffier hair?" Add all the reference lines you'd like. If we can't see the entire body, what good does it do?
Alex said on 25/Aug/07
Sid was 6'7 and Hogan was 6'5.
Estimation said on 23/Aug/07
JT, good pics. However, there is a possibility that Sid could be 6'7.5" (202 cm), making Hogan 6'5.5 (197 cm).

Null, LV likes to keep posting the Hogan-Davidson pic even though he knows that it

LV, I guess my point was what hogan is now at 54yr old in 2007. not what he was at 31 in 1984. If he was was 2+ inches shorter than a scant 6'8 guy back then (Davidson is old and practically bending over)that means he was only about 6'5 1/2 max back then. And he says he has lost inches in height himself, so he can't be 6'5 now, the 6'3 he looks now is about right. Which is ugly for a guy who was billed as 6'8 for 25 yrs 1977-2000.
