Paul Wight aka Big Show just spent the day/evening at The Miami Dolphins practice & scrimmage. Chris Perkins a beat reporter for the Dolphins & local Miami Media met him & took pics with him with several Dolphins Players...he just said The Big Show was 6'11" & 430 lbs..after seeing the pics of Big Show with dozens of Miami Dolphins players who have documented barefoot heights & accurate weights listed...I've gotta honestly say...Paul Wight looks like a legit 6'11" & 425-440 lbs...I agree tho on Shaq...he has 1.75" on Big Show in equal footwear. Big Show was in sneakers @ Dolphins Camp today.

Click Here Putting Big Show at a realistic 7ft flat in wrestlingboots shows his boots give easy 1.8".
Shaq comes out at 7´2.5" in 1.3"-1.4", even if Shaqs footwear gives him more, it doesn´t change anything for Big Show.
****If Shaq is really 7ft flat, he would be ~7´1.5" in this footwear, wich means Big Show would be 6´11" in 1.8" footwear/ 6´9.2" barefoot.*****
I think Shaq 7´0.75 and Big Show 6´10"-6´10.25" is there Barefoot height there.
That also fits with how tall Big Show looked next to Strowman and Kane who are both weak 6´7" barefoot.

I met Big Show in person and I high-fived him outside of his travel bus at a WWE event in Miami, FL. He is credibly between 6'11" and 7 feet. His college basketball profile listed him as 7'1", and it's possible that he lost 1 to 2 inches in height even before age 40, because of the stress that gravity exerts on a person who weighs over 400 pounds.

Big Show was in big cowboyboots facing Shaq the first time and Shaq stood relaxed lokking down in Big Shows eyes and was still 3cm taller.
Why not talking about Shaqs posture... The red carpet vid is the only one he really stretched out and stood straight for a long time.
At WM32 there was a brief moment he stretched out and gained a visible amount of height, having easy 2" on Big Show in his big soled boots.
And Khali was never a full 7´1" in WWE and looked a tad or two shorter than Shaq in their pic.
Khalis eyeline is at Shaqs nosetip.
The pic is even favouring Khali, look at the shoulderheight, Shaq is clearly the taller man.

Why do Wrestler always look shorter if they meet or are compared to Basketballplayer...
Hogan never looked taller than Barkley next to mene gene, was towered by Shaq and even 6´6.5" Rodman had inches on him in wcw...

Dicksock, it’s been many years since I saw that information on a website about Andre being estimated at 6’9”. I don’t recall which site it was but believe it also mentioned that Andre had a photo taken with players from the NY Knicks back in the 1970s and really did not look that tall.

Well, if the reporter is stating Chuck is 6'5" and that Andre had about 5" on him, that is the equivalent of him saying Andre was about 6'10". It's the same as him saying Andre was about 70lbs heavier than the 230lb Wepner being the same as him saying he looked about 300lbs. Personally, I think Andre looked about 6'11"/6'11.5" and about 380-400lbs next to Wepner. As far as Chuck being over 6'5", that is unfounded. So Red, now he's getting a 2+ inch boost from his boots??? Sure. Plus the height under the pivot point of the foot, not the back of the heel, is what determines the amount of boost. A 6'11" peak big show puts Andre at 6'9" tops. Could be, and maybe the sportswriters and b-ball players who met Andre back in the 1970s were correct when they pegged Andre at 6'9"…..

Haystacks was in pretty low soled footwear wich gave 0.5" -max 0.65" height.
Big Show was 5.5" - max 6" taller than Haytacks, Old Haystacks was 6´6.75"-6´7"max in his thin soled boots. He looked just a tad or two taller than John Tenta.
So peak Big Show was 7´0.25- 7´1" in nearly Kane 1997 heeled boots. His boots gave around 1.75"-2" so he was a 6´11"guy peak.

Akebono supposedly measured 6'8-3/8" barefoot? That makes a 6'11-1/2" barefoot Paul Wight .
If Akebono was still that height after years of 500+lbs, not impossible he was 6´7.5"-6´8" even without heightloss if his measurement was a morning measurement.
In JT´s pic Akebono looks 1.75" taller than Haystacks but has a footwear advantage ~0.5" . Haystacks imo was 6´6" or a tad over back then, so Akebono comes out a weak 6´8"-6´7.5".
6´11" or a tad more is Big Shows peakheight, today he looks 6´10.5"max and solid 2"-2.5" shorter than 7´0.5"-7´0.75" Shaq.
If Big Show wears his Big Boots he can give the Illusion of being only 1.5" shorter than Shaq.

Tatanka and Kane look taller because they're in the background. Shaq and Show are actually lined up with each other so it makes the comparison much more valid. Just like how the difference between Kane and Tatanka is accurate because they're lined up with each other. Also, the low camera angle at the ESPYs showed the same difference between Shaq and Show. Again, there is no way you can honestly say that Shaq doesn't have at least 2" on Show. If Shaq is a legit 7'1", then it is POSSIBLE that Show could be 6'11", but if Shaq is really only 7', then come on. Is anyone going to look at them from Wrestlemania or the ESPYs and say there is only 1" between them? Come on now. That is like some kind of joke.

I honestly feel like Shaq was over 7'1'' that night. I assume his dress shoes have to be customized for his massive feat. Here is a picture of him with his 6'9'' son, who's hair was tied up that night as well, adding to his height. Shaq's posture is great and his heels look kinda big.

I don't see where people are getting that Big Show is 3" taller than Shaq. In 2009 when they faced it was roughly 1.5" then the other pic Big Show had horrendous posture while Shaq stood straight. My guess is if Big Show stood straight he's still around 210 cm (6'10.25-.5) Shaq is prob still 6'11.5-7' more like 6'11.75-.85.

There's no way Big Show was under 7' back then in the WCW when he was around 400lbs ( or maybe 380ish ) ..
He looked absolutely huge and I remember him looking 3 inches taller than Nash..
Also remember him being billed 7'3 back then so there you have it if you substract the mandatory 2 inches exaggeration for big men in wrestling.
______________
He was billed as 7'4" in WCW bro... Even in WCW, he was shorter than 7'1" Ron Reis (The Yeti). His basketball listing was probably him in big sneakers. He may have been close to 7' in his prime, but he always wore thick heels to make him look taller. Right now, he is probably no more than 6'10". Shaq probably isn't even a legit 7'1", and he has at least 3" on Show. He may be closer to 6'11" out of bed.

Rob, you MUST WATCH this video:

I never thought I'd say that, but Rob you must admit that this video pretty much proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that Show is under 6'11". Pause at the 19 second mark for probably the best comparison.

Shaq is at least 214cm so a strong 7 footer barefoot and big Show probably a solid 209/210 cm barefoot, i think is fair to update his height to 214, 213 is a bit low for this basketball legend ;-)

I think he was 7'1 back then, and that's what he was billed in his basketball days.
Back then ---> Nash billed 7' --> 6'10'', Show billed up to 7'3 --> 7'1
I'm pretty sure he would still measure very close to 7' in the morning and standing tall ( which he never does ).
Also many seems to really under estimate the fact that the height of a 7' 500lbs man will be proportionally more impacted than a 6' 200lbs guy throughout the day...

When Big Show came to WWE in 1999, he was huge. There is a video out there somewhere with Big Show and the The Rock from 1999, and Vince McMahon is also in the segment. Rock back in 1999 was at least 6'3". Big Show had to be at least 7'0.5" and he had perfect posture. They both were out of gear and big show towered over the rock. Big Show has lost height over the years because of age, injuries and all the weight he has carried. I would have loved to see Shaq vs Big Show circa 1999, as opposed to 2016, back then they would have been near equal height.

BruceWayne on Big Show
Big Show was listed at 7'1" during his playing days at Wichita State University so probably during his prime, I believe he was at least 7 feet.
WCW billed him at 7'4". When he moved to the WWF (now WWE) they initially billed him at 7'2" and later on at 7 feet flat.
Today however, because of his posture and back issues plus the fact that he has ballooned to almost 500 pounds, he is probably a little over 6'10" (maybe 6'11 max on a good day).
I don't think he is shorter than Andre the Giant. Andre was billed at 7'4". However from available photos, it appears Andre was about 1-2 inches shorter than Wilt Chamberlain. that would put him around 6'11" and 7 feet in his prime. During the WrestleMania stare down with Hulk Hogan (6'4"), Andre appears to be only 4-5 inches taller than Hulkster (in their wrestling boots). This would put him around 6'9" and not anymore in his peak height (Similar to Big Show, Andre had bad posture, back and weight issues in his later years). At best Big Show and Andre are of the same height in their prime or Big show is slightly taller.
Disagree with the hogan 6'4. Hogan was between 6'5.5 and 6'6 at that point I. His career with by your logic would put Andre at 6'10 which I believe what he was fully standing at that time in his career. 6'4 for hogan is insane for his peak
Today however hogan whose body has been decimated is 6'3 at his very very best and more then often 6'2.
James B said on 13/May/16

Shaq judging by the size of his feet and the type of footwear he normally wears, nearly always has footwear advantage over others.
With the same footwear as Show, the most we can argue is 1.25 inches difference. In the exact same footwear, the difference would be an inch.
The Big Show is still a strong 6'10 as compared to Shaq. Shaq has been downgraded to 7'0 in some NBA listings; probably 6'11.5, he ain't got much on Show.

Big Show was really tall back in the WCW days - I'd say 7'.05" barefoot. If there was a stare down between him and Shaq back in WCW (1996-1998), they would have probably been close to the same height. Nowadays, Shaq probably has 1.5 and 2 inches on Show. So current - Big Show: 6'10.5 - 6'11 range, Shaq: 7'0" - 7'.05" range.

At first glance Shaq can look 3 inches taller than Big Show. Not saying he is though. Most likely its a 2 inch difference. It looked more like 3 at first because of the camera and Big Show's posture. 7'1 and 6'11 Id give them each though 6'10.5 for Big Show isn't impossible

Imo Shaq loses height in the second staredown and the high camera angle makes the real gap look even less.
during the first staredown Shaq is visible straightening his back and gains clear height doing that, no less than 2inches taller than Big Show.
Show had pretty chunky soles on his boots, but I doubt there was much footwear difference.
Rob, what do you think about their footwear?
James B said on 7/Apr/16
In JTs pic shaq doesn't look over 7ft but maybe his posture is not good?
miko said on 7/Apr/16
Given Shaq had footwear advantage the difference between them was closer to an inch. I only managed to have a brief look previously
Show looked tall, if you say Shaq is still close to 7'1, then Show isn't under 6'11 and likely a tad over when standing tall.

Big Show definitely lost height compared to his WCW time, at least an inch.
Rob, do you think their footwear gives the same height and is Shaq still peak in your book?

Here is Big Show at Wrestlemania with 7'1" Shaq at Wrestlemania
Click Here and a shot of their footwear
Click Here Shaq is really hard to tell cuz of the design of his sneakers, but they appear to be basketball shoes. Probably equal to Show's footwear I'm guessing.
What do you think guys. 2" difference? 2.5" at most?
My best guess - Show 7' peak, 610.5" or 6'11" currently. Not sure which one. Show 7'0.5"-7'1" in boots and Shaq 7'3" in basketball sneakers.
Strowman - best guess is 6'7.5" barefoot and 6'10" in boots. He wears pretty big clunkers
Click Here which would explain his close height to Kane
Click Here Strowman wore flatter shoes when he first debuted

The picture with Big Show & Shaq when Shaq first entered the ring, it looked obvious that Shaq was taller but clearly Show's posture (as usual) was pretty bad. I really feel like if we had Big Show circa WCW in that ring facing off with Shaq, it would have been dead even.
In the later stand off when it was just the 2 of them in the ring, they looked a lot more even. I really think the shoes Shaq, like basketball shoes normally do, were giving him an advantage plus he had really nice posture. I personally know 2 guys, one is 6'6'' and the other 6'7'', who ran into Big Show and both said they felt he was a legit 7-foot dude.

@Ryan Hancock Braun Strowman has exceptionally good posture whereas Big Show tends to slouch quite a bit, shrinking his height down to the 6'8"-6'10" range; when Big Show straightens his back--usually when he needs to accentuate his height over another wrestler--he reaches his 6'11" height.

Here are the facts that we actually have:
In the photo with 6,8" billed Brian Shaw, Strowman (Adam Scherr) looked maybe 1/4 to 1/2 an inch shorter than Brian. Hard to say exactly, but Brian definitely looks to shade him.
Brian Shaw is photographed numerous times with
Hafthor Bjornsson, in all photos looking 1/4 to 1/2 an inch shorter than him.
Rob has Bjornsson on this site and a picture of himself with Thor, and his deduction was 6,7.75" which looks about right.
So realistically Strowman is going to be hovering around 6,6.5" to 6,7"
Strowman looked well within 2 inches of Big Show in their staredown.
In Big Show's staredown with Shaq, he looked every bit of 6,11" assuming Shaq is 7,1" (of which there is plenty of photographic evidence, most prominently the photo of him next to the
Robert Wadlow statue which has him bang on 7,1")
Strowman looked identical in height to Kane, and shades Undertaker slightly.
My personal opinion, Strowman is 6,7" on the dot the same as Kane. Taker is just a shade under both. Strowman is wearing lifts in his staredown with Big Show in WWE's attempt to make him appear a giant. How tall Show is today is impossible to say. I seriously doubt he has lost any height since he went toe to toe with Shaq.
That's my conclusion, draw your own. Tracing it back to the pic of
Hafthor Bjornsson with Rob is the best evidence there is though.
James B said on 15/Jan/16
alex- strowman had posture and footware advantage over big show in there staredown I think.

James B, from his debut in 95 til around 2000-2002 he looked a solid 7'0 guy. Slowly looked to shrink as time went on. He surely doesn't look over 6'11 today and could argue that he's more in the 6'10-6'10.5 range
Alex 6'0 said on 14/Jan/16

Those photos of Show with Matt Morgan are interesting. In the side-on photos where he is slouched he looks barely 6,10", but in the shots where they are facing the camera with Jones and Lesnar and Show is standing straight, you could believe 7 foot.
While bearing in mind those pics are from 2003, you could see Show getting maybe another 1.5" on Strowman if he stood up properly.
Perhaps WWE is on a mission to make Strowman seem more impressive. Who knows...
HeightcrazyRed6ft said on 11/Jan/16
Big Show has no big footwear disadvantage there, his sole looks even bigger than Strowmans sole.
Strowman may have an inside lift but in total I doubt he has more than 0.5-0.75" footwearadvantage.
Strowman should be 6´8.5" in his footwear and Show 6´11". No doubt Big Show would gain an inch standing straight so 7´0" in footwear is possible, 6´10.5"-6´11" without.

I don't know really, after looking at the staredown with Strowman there doesn't seem to be more than 2 inches between the two... Angle was perfectly fine it was just that Show wasn't that much taller, yes at first I thought Steowman looked the same height or taller but then from the side view I paused it and top of Show's head is still 1.5 - 2inches higher, which begs the question again, it doesn't add up its either Show isn't even 6'11 anymore and more close to the 6'9 range or Strowman's close to 6'10???
Maybe today Show is 6'9.5 and Strowman 6'7.5 with Kane shrinking slightly and down to 6'7 flat with taker at 6'6.5

The only disadvantage mark Henry had against big show was the fact he a lot shorter at 6'3.
Mark Henry manhandled Daniel Bryan who himself is a bulky robust fella. I reckon if Bryan was taller like CM punks height he could have held his own better against Henry.
A man said on 2/Jan/16
Show was extremely fat at that time. So what if he was 550 lbs? I'd bank that he was stronger when he looked about 400-450 in 1999.
And Lesnar confirmed himself that the only guy in the locker room who he couldn't beat in an arm wrestle was Kane. In the interview he even mentions Show by name, and how he still managed to beat him despite Show having fingers like bananas.
Mark Henry is also certainly stronger than Show, as he formerly competed in strongman events at an elite level.
