Spanish professional footballer, who plays as a winger for FC Barcelona and the Spain national team. In July 2025 he was measured around 5ft 11. In 2024 he claimed that year to have gained "in height, two centimeters this year. I'm at 1.81 now."

@Rob @Joseph King- It’s likely that Barcelona has measured Yamal like 1-1.5 hours out of bed. Busting his guts, wearing socks, and the stadiometer probably touched his hair (not the scalp). Take 0.5 cm for busting the guts and another 0.5 cm for the hair so that’s 180 cm. Take another 0.5-1 cm that he will likely drop after being awake for 3-6 hours. He is basically a 5’10.5” to 5’10.75” guy (Weak 5’11”).
It’s okay to claim 5’11” if you’re 180 cm height after 3 hours out of bed, but after 1-2 hours? I don’t think so.
I’m 176.3 cm after 2 hours out of bed but I don’t claim 5’9.5”. After 3 hours out of bed I’m 175.9 cm and 175.5 cm before bed. I claim 5’9” or 5’9.25”

Editor RobIt depends just how long they've been awake, but most of these take place within a few hours of being up so players will shrink further.

Standing next to Dani Olmo in a recent pre season game made him look around 178-179, barely taller than his coach Hansi Flick who is 178 likely a bit shorter due to age. 5'11 definitely a morning height, should be around 5'10 - 5'10 1/2 range

I’m a fan of Yamal. I think he has a chance to hit 6’0” but the moment you turn 18, nothing is guaranteed. According to the CDC growth charts males in the US on average grow exactly 1 cm (0.4 inches) after age 18 and even would be gradually until the age of 21. An inch is still achievable if you’re slightly a late bloomer. I didn’t expect to grow 3 cm after age 18, but I did it.

Maybe Pato has grown the 7 cm from 18 to 21 y/o rather than 21 to 25 but that’s still rare. Most guys at 18 are already done.Editor Rob

The link Rob provided clearly shows that Pato was already 179 cm (his final height) by 21. It's quite normal that height stats aren't fully up to date, especially for younger footballers. Yamal obviously hasn't grown 10 cm the past year either. I'm sure he's been over 5'10 for at least 2 years

Editor RobIt would indeed be very rare, but I've never looked into how tall he looked at 21....but seeing him with Nesta at that age, he looks taller than 172cm.

He'll probably end up holding just over 5'11 at a low, like 181cm range when he is finished growing or he may be finished growing already. But let's see if he still becomes slightly taller than that

Editor RobThe figure is supposed to be from the stadiometer measurement. I looked at him beside the wall mounted rod and earlier in the day when the players were getting physicals, he may well have got the 181 mark - it's trickier with the angle involved, but Click Here, to me that line would show the 180cm height.

Editor RobIt will be interesting to see if he gains more height. There's a chance of more growth, but also a fairly large percentage after turning 18 are done.

Editor RobProbably a bit shy of 180cm at worst, maybe out of bed he is between 181-2 zone. Has he done growing now? Maybe, but we'll see...
